Sector Initiatives

 

Napa County Workforce Investment Board has embarked on a series of industry sector initiatives in order to better understand the needs of local employers – specifically their workforce needs and challenges, and the opportunities that presents.

 

The current sector initiatives focus on seven priority industries and includes a series of community forums with business leaders representing those industries, workforce needs studies of those industries, and a second round of community forums to present the findings of the studies and to discuss the future of each of the industry groups.

 

Industry sector initiatives have proven to be an effective way for workforce boards to develop more effective programs, services and policies to better prepare the local workforce to meet the challenges and opportunities of local employers.

 

Another benefit of industry sector initiatives is that the business leaders who participate in the process often find themselves at the center of formal or informal advisory or working groups that seek to represent the workforce and workforce development interests of their industry.
